Romeo ends up at the party by chance, one of Capulet’s Servants can’t read the Guest list, and by ‘chance’ (Again, Fate?) bumps into Romeo and asks him to help not realising Romeo is a Montague.
“I pray, sir, can you read?”
The servant tells him that if he is not a Montague then he must attend the party.
“And if you bet of house of Montagues, I pray come and crush a cup of wine”
It could be argued that this is an act of fate, yet Benvolio plays his part as well.
Had the Servant been able to read the list, or even bumped into someone else, Romeo may not have heard about or even gone to the party. Yet after he got invited Benvolio thought (being a good friend) it would be a good idea for Romeo to attend the party top get over Rosalyn.
