To be accepted by God we would have to have our minds taken out of complete spiritual darkness, and never want a filthy thought to enter our heads again.
“The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be” (Romans 8:7). The carnal mind which is called here is the same as the law of sin. It is also noted that the carnal mind is not only an enemy to God, but it is also hate itself. This carnal mind is in every human; not even excluding the newborn infant, for each is born with the sin that Adam sinned in the beginning. Unfortunately, this carnal mind is with us every second of our lives. “Every faculty of mans being has been effected by the fall” says Arthur Pink in his book; Our Accountability to God. Not only is this awful enmity born in everyone of Adam’s fallen race, this indwelling sin is “enmity against God.” This deadly sin consistently opposes the nature or law of grace and holiness in the believer. Galatians 5:17 says, “for the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the spirit, and the spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.” That verse meaning, sin fights against all principles of spirituality. “Sin has perverted the human mind that has distorted views and horrible ideas are entertained of that Deity,” says Arthur Pink. Sin has also exaggerated the mind that “he considers himself competent to comprehend the incomprehensible,” Pink also said.
