Ericsson, our main topic for this report, is a company which can have strength in Circuit/RBS technology. They tie up with Cisco, which has strength in IP Switching/Routing technology, and Ericsson provides the total mobile network equipments to operators by combining such technologies.

Ericsson China at a glance
Ericsson China is a subsidiary of Ericsson, one of the world’s leaders in telecommunication networking equipment industry. In Chinese market, Ericsson China is also the market leader in mobile network industry, and the company procures, sells and installs Ericsson’s switching systems. Dated back to 1892, Ericsson had its first business experience in selling telecommunication equipments in China. Not until 1985, Ericsson formally set up its subsidiaries in China, which signified the beginning of its heavy investment in China.
Currently, Ericsson has five wholly owned subsidiaries, ten joint ventures and three area headquarters in China (refer to Appendix for the detailed lists). Ericsson China has an employee workforce of about 4,500. It consistently holds 35 to 40 percent of market share in GSM network equipment industry in China.
Ericsson China has provided the core mobile network equipment in order to cover more than 50 cities in 9 provinces, including Shanghai, Shandong, Guangdong, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Guangxi, Chongqing, Hebei and Hubei. Its services include network roll out, GPRS implementation and integration, systems support, hardware maintenance, systems implementation, telecom management performance service, technical and management training, and GPRS core network design.
