New Haven is full of fun, exciting places to visit. The traditional nightlife of bars and pubs is giving way to new nightclubs. Risk nightclub is a located on 230 Crown St. and is one of New Haven’s hottest clubs.
Risk opened last year and is designed to hold a lot of people but also keep lines at the bar to a minimum. "We have the floors," says Risk bartender Nick Lioi, "and second floor has a huge dance floor and a bar. The D.J. plays from the third floor, which is also a VIP lounge."
The club has a modest entrance from the street, with a simple sign and a small door. But once you make your way up the stairs, you see the magnitiude of the club.
Made up of three floors, 2 D.J.’s, and at least 7 bartenders working behind it’s 4 bars, Risk is designed for a big crowd. "We can pack in a few hundred people in here, and trust me we do," says Lioi.
"Risk has an awesome atmosphere, you can dance or sit at the bar, or relax on a couch. It’s a wicked awesome place to go with your friends. You’re gauranteed to have fun," says Quinnipiac junior Chris Ort. "Unlike other clubs, you rarely have to wait in line for a drink," says Ort.
The main dance floor is on the second level, and it uses state-of-the-art technology. It has a ceiling of lights that can swing 360 degrees and in 5 different colors. It is also equipped with numerous fog machines and laser lights that all move to the beat of the music.
The sound system is the club’s pride and joy. "It is absolutely amazing, I sometimes think we are going to break down the walls when we have that baby pumping," says Lioi "You have speakers coming at you from the ceiling, the walls everywhere."
Thursday night Risk offers free drinks from 7-11 pm, and free admission with a QU I.D. The VIP lounge has champagne and other drinks included into the price of around $20 depending on what night.
