At first glance, George W.’s justification for removing Saddam’s regime from Iraq seems sound. However, we can view his statement in an alternate way: “if the Iraqi nation is disarmed and Saddam is removed from power, the American people will be safe from the Iraqi’s weapons of mass destruction” is logically equivalent to the statement “if the American people aren’t safe from Iraqi’s weapons of mass destruction, then the Iraqi nation hasn’t been disarmed and Saddam has not been removed from power.” This obviously shows a hole in George W. Bush’s logic. The American people could still be at risk from Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction even if they “disarmed”. We as a nation have no way of knowing how many barrels of anthrax or dozens of scud missiles have already been distributed to Russia, Al Queda, Iran, Korea, or other countries over the pass two or three decades by the Iraq regime. Also, who is to say that if Iraq disarms and Saddam is removed from power that some other fanatic won’t step in and pick up where Saddam left off.
