I. Introduction: I have always been interested in the events surrounding the virginal conception of Jesus Christ and will be examining how he was conceived.
II. Topic: The issue of the virgin birth, as described in the Nicene Creed, “born of the Virgin Mary,” will be better understood through the writings of Susan Haskins compared to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the scriptures Luke 1:35 and Matthew 1:18-25. Sister Helen Prejean’s life and work will then be shown to embody the discipleship of the Virgin Mary, with applicable personal and social implications following.
