Personal Ads: What Men versus Women are looking for!

Our scavenger hunt is based on answering questions concerning Personal Ads placed in newspapers by both men and women. Upon analyzing these personal ads based on gender, we are attempting to answer the questions of “What men and women want”, “How do men and women advertise themselves”, “What the age breakdown is for both men and women”, and “Do the men and women placing the advertisements, differ by age”.
In the July 3rd edition of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper, there are a total of 7 ads placed. All of these are by single males. One of the seven added a religious specification to his add, as looking for a “Christian” female.
Six out of the seven men were in the age range of 40 years old to 78 years old. Two of the men were looking for a female between the ages of 60 years to 83 years old. Two other men were looking for younger women in their twenties. One man, age 44, was looking for a female between the ages of 30-45 years old, somewhat closer to his own age, while the remaining two men did not specify an age. Only two of the seven men placed information concerning themselves in the ads, with one stating he was friendly, caring, and simple, while the other mentioned he was athletic and financially secure.
All seven men were looking for a heterosexual relationship, and had in common, the fact that all were looking for companionship in their quest for a relationship with whoever responded to the ad.
There were no personal advertisements in the July 3rd edition of the Orlando Weekly. I searched a multitude of newspapers via the internet, and in almost all newspapers that were listed online, a user is required to fill out a questionnaire in order to meet the type of person he/she is looking for. Since we are attempting to get a consensus on men versus women, this was not going to help.
