ar studies have produced this concept that language comprehension is easier than naming the color of the ink. It appears this is due to the lack of “translation” in processing the words. This specific study tested the Stroop Effect resulting from reading words typed in various colors. This topic is of interest and importance due to the increase of the use of multi-colored text for communication, i.e.: instant messaging and e-mail. This study and others like it will assert that variance in color effects the mental processing of language. This was studied by presenting the subjects with two lists. For the first list the subjects were requested to recite the color of the typed text, and for the second list they were simply asked to read the written word aloud that was placed before them. The predicted results are fairly simple to describe. It was predicted that the subjects would exhibit hesitation and might even respond incorrectly due to Stroop interference. The study tests this to assert the previous findings regarding the Stroop Effect. This study will be used to support that color interferes with processing of language in contemporary subjects. The design of the experiment will allow for easily attainable observational information. Each subject will be closely monitored as to their response by one of the experiments whilst another administers the two tests.

Research Hypothesis H1 : The difference between the meaning of the word and the color of the word will result in Stroop interference which will cause the subjects to hesitate and/or make an incorrect response.

Null Hypothesis H0 : The difference between the meaning of the word and color of the word will not manifest any hesitation or incorrect responses from the test subjects.
