nd Taiwan. They believe that China’s ultimate goal is to be a rising power that threatens the replacement of the U.S. as a dominant hegemon in Asia, (Bernstein & Munro, pg. 2). Due to China’s size, and dominance that they have shown through force gives it an opportunity to become as Asian hegemon, which realists believe must be controlled and regulated before it is too late, (Bernstein & Munro pg. 13). American foreign policy would be based solely on U.S. interests. A realist’s objectives would be to analyze the level of threat China poses on the U.S. and the world and find ways to balance the power in the favor of the U.S. These realist precautions will help bring to light some possible threats, and with a combination of liberal ideas it will help to hand this new power.
