Capital Punishment

Many U.S citizens have their own views on capital punishment. Capital punishment is punishing a person by death who has committed a serious crime. I believe that if a serious crime has been committed, capital punishment is the solution.
The 8th amendment says excessive bail shall not be required nor excessive fines imposed nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted. In other words a correct punishment must be set according to the crime. I feel that if someone committed a murder, the right retribution, desired punishment, should be death. To allow someone that has committed a serious crime to live and maybe walk the streets again could be dangerous. It would also not be right to allow a murderer to still live after they have taking away the life of another person.
Capital Punishment acts as deterrence towards people. Telling someone they would die, if they killed a person, would make them think twice and hopefully prevent them from acting on their intensions. Enforcing capital punishment would decrease the number of crimes committed that would lead to their own death. It is a strong and crucial punishment, but I think it’s something that must be done. It is the only way to prevent people from thinking that committed a serious crime is not worth losing their own life....
