This military tactic enables a weaker army to defeat a stronger army because the ability to cause mass destruction and devastation through bombing instead of one on one combat. The United States developed a wide variety of bombers allowed for the quicker and more devastating advance on Germany (Weeks 66). This caused a great destruction and stronger attack on Germany.
A German air force commander, Karl Von Clausewitz, taught, “ To defeat an enemy you must bring his forces to battle, a mass overwhelming strength at a crucial point, then destroy them. After which you could impose your will on the enemy”(Perret 87). The British and other Allied forces did not use this philosophy. They believed that one needed “ to go for the jugular and bomb his [Hitler] industrial economy to bits, shattering his ability to wage war” (Perret 88).
