d idea that housing in adult facilities for the juveniles should be taken in consideration with their age and how they are incarcerated. In prison they are the ones that would be preyed upon instead of them being the predator. Every right that an adult has in the justice system I think that a juvenile should have also. The juvenile should be protected just as well as an adult would be, but there has to be a fine line between their own survival in an environment where they are thought of as meat. I think that everything should come in to consideration when a persons life and the best interest of society is in danger.
Researchers believe that many juveniles who are convicted as an adult end up becoming career criminals. Their research shows that youths tried as adults commit new crimes at higher rates than their counterparts who stay in juvenile courts. Other in depth research has shown that when a teenager has been convicted and had served their time they didn’t serve their full sentence and then was released to commit more serious crimes and more frequent than youths who stayed in the juvenile system. There has also been a stereotype put on African American teens which showed that they suffered more under the law than Caucasian teens.
Every state in the U.S. allows children to be tried as adults. This is how politicians responded to the rapid increase in juvenile crime over the years. Teenagers committing crimes of such a serious nature gave them no choice but to punish them in a more serious manner. To try a minor as an adult is believed by most politicians to be the most effective but fair way of handling cases. To be tried as an adult the crime must be serious. The leaders of our country think that if a juvenile is going to act like a serious criminal then they should be treated as one too.
