As adults we watch the news which shows the officer who doesn’t always shoot the right person or has incidents where he/she may lose their temper with a suspect maybe because they lost a friend dealing with a suspect and doesn’t want to take any chances. The media is just as much to blame as the officer sometimes, because of their decision to print the only part of the story they think people want to hear. The police officer does tend to get a bad rep, because of photos like the one I included in my report or like the one printed of the federal agents who stormed into the household of Elian Gonzalez and his family granted those where federal agents how many people really distinguish the two? Officers are officers in the public eye. The police are often portrayed as monsters, and far to often one or two officers do something that makes us believe that they are. I cannot however bring myself to down talk the officer after all it is the profession I have chosen for myself. The type of challenge that lies ahead just happens to be the kind I wish for. I am sure that many other officers have approached the job with the same attitude, but where eventually worn down then again some just flourished to the next level. Theses people are very few in the eyes of the civilian. Incidents such as the Rodney King situation are the few, but because of the lack of positive press it is easy to see why there is such bad relations between civilians and police officers. There are many of positive stories to tell, but these stories don’t sell so you most likely wont get to see or hear them. The everyday stress o...
