Abortion
Abortion is a very controversial topic that is hard to take a stand on. It is difficult to understand the loss of a fetus which hasn’t been born. On the other hand, studies show that most unwanted pregnancies result in child abuse, whether it is physical or mental. There are also many cases in which the mother has no means to financially support her child. All of these infants, which are born to mothers who never wanted a pregnancy, have the odds set against them in the road of life.
There have been many known acts of cruelty and neglect which are practiced upon innocent children born from mothers who did not want them. This causes serious psychological trauma upon these children, which dramatically decreases their probability of becoming productive members of society. In a desperate search for acceptance, most of them end up using drugs, which eventually leads them in to a life of crime. Without abortion, there would be a lot more violence and negative acts practiced upon children and by children, in need of acceptance throughout this country. Children suffer from a high rate of physical and psychological abuse as it is; if more unwanted children were forced to be born to parents who didn’t want them, then this rate could easily double or even triple. In the long run, this devaluates the quality of life for everyone who is living in a society of pro-life believers.
Most of today’s teenage mothers have no way of financially supporting their children. In these cases, the parents have to become dependant on child support, which turns them into a drain of the economy. Raising a child has become extremely expensive in modern society. Not only is gathering money difficult, but in most cases, bearing a child prevents teenage mothers from continuing their studies, which is vital to their success in this country.
