Abortion
When you think of abortion most people think of clinics being bombed, heated arguments, and lines upon lines of demonstrators with picket signs with phrases such as “Abortion is Homicide!” With many people on both sides of the argument it makes it almost impossible to make a final decision to please everyone. Abortion has earned the reputation of becoming one of the most controversial issues in America today.
The people that are for abortion are called the Pro-Choice group. These people believe that many of abortion’s positive effects are helping to keep babies from being born into a bad environment. If a mother is carrying a child and the child’s birth has a chance of killing or hurting the mother then the option to abort is a good possibility. The main reason for this is obviously to save the mother and to make sure one will live rather than if she tried to have the birth they both might die. Many people believe that just this aspect of abortion should allow for it to remain legal and keep it as an option. Another reason for abortion is if a woman is raped and is carrying and unwanted child then she has the choice of going through the birthing process or she can abort the child. These situations are very real and happen more often than one might think. Being forced to have sex, carry, and birth a child that is not wanted is a hard situation for a woman to go through. These two pros to abortion are major factors in the Pro-Choice arsenal.
On the other hand is the Pro-Life group. This group of people is completely against everything that is abortion. If a child is conceived then they should be allowed to at least attempt to live. The main point in the Pro-Life argument is abortion is a form of murder. The Bible states in the Ten Commandments that “thou shall not kill” and this is the basis of the argument.
