How to Find the Right Pediatrician

Since I am a new mom who have faced this problem not that long ago, for my Current Event Report Guidelines assignment, I decided to touch upon an issue of how to find the pediatrician. I am presenting two articles, which I found to be very helpful in the difficult process of choosing a perfect doctor for my newborn. I established first of my articles “The Right Pediatrician for You” by Aviva Patz, in September 2004 issue of American Baby magazine. After reviewing many different sites on the Internet, for my second piece I selected an article from The Seattle Times “Choosing a pediatrician: How to pick a doc for baby” by Marsha King which appeared on September 1, 2004.
b. Summary of each of the two articles:
“The Right Pediatrician for You” by Aviva Patz in American Baby magazine, is the article, which all expecting parents should read. It broaches most of the concerns and issues new parents are facing. In addition, it provides a bunch of tips in searching for the right doctor, and fully explains and clarifies each of them. At the beginning the author suggests to start searching for the pediatrician about two months before the due date. According to the article, it is important to get referrals from friends and family or even the ob-gyn doctor. Patz advice is to ask ourselves the question, what we are looking for. She lists few things parents should be concern in process of picking the right doctor. First, parents should check if the doctor accepts your health insurance, and what is even more important, if the candidates are on the list of board-certified. Another aspect parents should consider is the location of the office and flexible office hours.
