Light. That word is practically used for everything healthy these days. Light on calories. Light on fat. The word itself has practically come to mean “Healthy.” No wonder cigarette companies want to call their products “light.” They try to trick us into believing that some of their products aren’t bad for us. And if “light” cigarettes aren’t that bad, then Ultra Lights, must practically be good for us, right? WRONG
Tobacco use in any way, shape, or form is not healthy for you or anyone around you.
I’m going to inform you on the (1) Contents in the cigarette/smoke, (2) The effects tobacco has on you, and (3) how it affects others.
Tobacco contains many different things that are harmful to your body. I’m going to tell you some of them, because I don’t have all day to tell you all of them. Nicotine, which is a highly addictive chemical. Tar, which is the term to describe the 20 plus different carcinogens, cancer-causing substances. Carbon Monoxide, replaces some of the essential oxygen in the bloodstream. Acetone, a powerful solvent, derived from petroleum, used to remove nail varnish and grease stains and to thin varnishes. Ammonia, extremely important bulk chemical widely used in fertilizers, plastics, and explosives. Hydrogen cyanide, which is an extremely poisonous chemical compound. Remember this is just a few out of 2000 different chemicals.
Now that I told u what tobacco contains, let me tell you what they affect on you. With smoking, your clothes stink, your clothes turn yellow, your breath stinks, your teeth turn yellow, lose your sense of taste and/or smell, get lung cancer, causes heart disease and can lead to strokes, slows lung growth, decreases lung function and reduces oxygen available for muscles used in sports, and can get emphysema.
