People live by certain rules and regulations in every city. Sometimes the rules and regulations are similar and sometimes they are different from city to city. These rules are placed in order for the people of the city to live more peacefully amongst each other and these rules are ideals as to how one should conduct themselves in the city in which one may reside. In every society there are people on top, ones with the power and money to regulate and advocate rules and regulations for the city. Other people will in turn choose to choose to follow these rules or not. This will have to do with self discipline or “rational” thought on the part of that person.
Being “rational” is thought to as being social and following the flow of a city and not choosing to act astray. Many “rational” thought may not only deal with rules and regulations but also with ethics and morals of the people around us or ethics and morals within us. In Fayetteville, North Carolina “rational” behavior is not amiss among this city. It is predominantly military city where rules and regulations are not to be taken lightly. Although there are both the civilians and the military in the same city, much of the order of the city is applied to all. As Catherine Lutz describes it in Homefront, “there is a blurred line between the civilians and military of this city.” So although there is a distinction between the two groups of people, there is not a real distinction on what is thought to be as “rational” behavior. Every civilian in this city is somehow related to military personnel who in turn pass down this “rational” mentality to those around them. It is natural for those around you to effect how you act, think, and be rational.
In the military most of the men and women do what is expected of them. There are always codes and conducts to follow. Living so long like this and having the military ways instilled in you, it is hard...
