The issue of gun control has been around since man has been in the new world. With the fighting of the Civil War and the fight for our independence it was customary for the people to have firearms to protect themselves and for hunting, etc. Today organizations are trying to take away that freedom by outlawing the possession of firearms. Instead of outlawing the possession of firearms I believe that there should restrictions but people are owed the right of the freedoms, so the issue of Gun Control has been in the Supreme Court now for years and they are still asking, should guns be outlawed or have restrictions?
This issue of guns has always been compelling to me. I was raised with my grandfather being a police officer to respect and handle guns with care. I was always taught that a person who is a citizen of the United States has the right to their freedoms, and the right to bear arms is one of those freedoms. Guns should be legal to own if so desired, but by the right people. If a gun is purchased there should be a background check to see if the person has committed any felonies. If a person who is found safe and wishes to have a gun in the house for the safety of his family then that should be there right.
Gun Control is a touchy subject. The NRA feels that anybody should be able to own a gun. I to feel the same way, however there should be some criteria met before someone is allowed to own a firearm. Also many politicians feel that all guns should be banned and that maybe the problem of guns will go away. Take a look at drugs for instance, they are illegal to posses but look how much of it is out on the streets, if guns are made illegal there are still going to be guns on the street if there is a demand for them.
I am still not fully educated on all aspects of this topic. I would like to find out some statistics on the number of registered firearms that kill people. And out of those numbers find out which ones we...
