The Iraqi war may have spurred the catch phrase “shock and awe,” but Americans everywhere witnessed true shock and awe on September 11, 2001 when the Earth shook and buildings crumbled at America’s financial and defensive hubs.
American’s witnessed firsthand a level of horror depicted only in movies and demanded its leaders take every action necessary to guarantee such atrocities stayed on the silver screen forevermore. Federal, military, state and local officials began that moment to implement measures to ensure every American Citizen’s safety from Al Queda and other extreme terrorist groups.
After evaluating the gaps in security government officials published web sites, developed databases, and implemented tracking systems to predict, and preferably prevent, future attacks on the United States.
Federal, state and local authorities began networks and task forces to combat possible terrorist attacks. Agencies began training and outfitting personnel for unconventional warfare situations, and utilized high-tech equipment and machinery detect chemical and biological contaminates.
The military typically operated in a technologically advanced environment, however since the Twin Towers fell soldiers, seamen, and airmen operate more safely and effectively a farther distance from harm....
