The Aha Hills, which are 700 million years old, are located in the most isolated area around the Botswana-Namibian border. Much of the area hasn’t even been totally explored. The Hills are visible from the Gchwihaba Caves and form a 245 squared kilometer area of dolomite, limestone, and marble plateau (Government of Botswana).
The Gchwihaba (Drotsky’s) Caves is one of the most remote tourist destinations as well and is sure to be one of the wildest. The caves form a labyrinth of passages and caverns on two levels. The passages lead to strange rock formations, stones of beautiful colors, stalactites, inlets, and “frozen” waterfalls. Everything was formed from dripping water that seeped through and dissolved the dolomite rock. The large bat population is harmless but can be noisy at first entrance.
