At the entrance of the Mexican southeast you’ll find the state of Tabasco with a physiology of abundant vegetation, culture, and much more.
Tabasco was one of the orginal states of Mexico. It was first crossed by Fernando Cortez of Spain in 1524. Tabasco comes from the word Tlavashco which means "Place that has owner." But some have also translated it to "Watery earth."
Tabasco has a surface area of 24,475 square kilometers, and a population of about 891,829. It is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the north, The State of Campeche to the northwest, The Republic of Guatamala to the south west, The State of Veracruz to the west, and The State of Chiapas to the south.
Due to the location and scarce increase in sea level, Tabasco is very warm, with lows of 15 degrees celcius, to highs of 40 degrees celcius, its average temperature is about 26 degrees.
Tabasco has many products, such as bannanas, coconuts, cacao, and also sugarcane. It also has major forest products of rubber, chickle, resin, and dyes. But its biggest economic descovery was many rich oilfeilds on the coast, which are now the economic mainstay of Tabasco.
Tabasco has conserved its cultural heratage, which comes from the Olmecas, th Mayas, and the Chontales. In Tabasco there are many libraries, museums, and gallerys to encurage promotion of their country. Tabasco is the gateway to the Mayan world, and safeguards the Olmeca archatecture and culture. Another important are is Colmalcalo, which was built around the 7th century, this site is typical of the late classic mayan period, with a great cerimonieal center surrounded by platforms and mounds, combing the ceremonial aspects of mayan life.
