The whole world as we know it is trapped. We are slaves of corporations. They own everything, run everything, and most of all influence us on everything. We have been slaves of these corporations since a little box called the television came out. We ate television up like a cookie, and the corporations saw a window of opportunity. We have been made to believe that the world around us is real, but in reality the world around us has been molded to be what other people want it to be. To put it simply we have been blinded from the truth. But do you think we can break the chains we can not see?
People say we are free. But can we really be free if other people are telling us what to wear how we should be, what is right and wrong in society, what someone should and shouldn’t look like, etc… Ads have influenced us so much that we do not even notice them anymore. “The average consumer literally can’t imagine life without commercials” Baldwin, Deborah. The Hard Sell. We have been accustomed to seeing them so much that we do not notice them until we run by it at the store. That is when you remember you saw it on an ad somewhere
We have been brainwashed to believe that without a nice car, a nice house, etc… we can not have a happy life. Society has taught us this. This is when “The things you own end up owning you” Durden, Tyler Fight Club. But we can not change this. We eat this up faster than a cheeseburger. Knowing that you have what society has always wanted you to have makes you and others like you feel great. It makes you feel in control of your life.
Do you think we can really break this barrier? We have been so use to seeing ads all around us that we can not go five minutes without them. We need ads like a baby needs his bottle.
