Mrs. Woolf: Thank you very much. It is such an honor for me to be able to be here tonight and share with the audience and million of viewers about my experience as being a woman in our society. It is also my pleasure to be here with Mr. Fannon. I am a great admirer of your work.
Mr. Fannon: Thank you Mrs. Woolf, I admire your work too. What we need to have in this world is to have more leaders. People who are able and willing to firmly stand and speak up about issues, which affect them and people around them.
Presenter: Thank you Mrs. Woolf and Mr. Fannon, it seems like we are going to have a smooth and interesting discussion tonight. Mrs. Woolf and Mr. Fannon seem to admire each other’s works. Why don’t we start off the show by asking Mrs. Woolf to talk to us about her feeling on the gender issue. Mrs. Woolf, How do you feel about the situation of the majority of women in today’s society? What are the causes” And how can they improve their lives?
Mrs. Woolf: It is true that today women have a lot more rights and opportunities than they did when I was younger. Within those rights and opportunities, there are still blockages that can prevent them from freely enjoying those privileges. Because our societies have been used to excluding women from outdoor activities, men always try to remind women about their function in societies, either directly or indirectly. Women are still harassed in universities, at work and even by men in their own families. Women’s oppression started at an early age. I don’t know if I am fortunate or unfortunate not have a brother, but when I remember the sad memories that I have of my friend Claire, I am glad not to have a brother. Claire...
