“Brotherhood Of The Wolf” is a movie that I would recommend any horror movie enthusiast to see. I think that the movie “Brotherhood Of The Wolf” is an exemplary combination of horror and action, and that its success as a movie comes from both the martial arts action, and the mysterious beast that travels the countryside killing people.
The movie is based in France during the era before the revolutionary war. At the beginning of the movie a woman that was attacked by something is falling down a hill, but she is still alive and tries to climb up on a boulder to escape the thing that attacked her. When she almost reaches the top of the boulder she is pulled back off, and shaken back and forth before she dies. This part of the movie is to enlighten us about the coming of “The Beast.”
Two travelers come from Paris; one is Knight Gregoir De Fronzac and the other is a foreigner, and unknown. Fronzac and his companion have come to study the Beast’s victims and if possible to capture it for study. In Paris, “The Beast,” is thought of as nothing but an overly large wolf, but the Beast is quite large and is not afraid of gunshot or bullets. With one swipe of its paw it took half of a woman’s face before her two traveling companions could come to her aid. The Beast has elongated teeth, and its body is larger than that of a wolf’s. It is estimated to weigh around five-hundred pounds and could open its jaw to around ten inches.
The largest hunt of any kind was held in France during the years that Sir De Fronzac and his brother were there, and the assassin of the Beast would be awarded 500 pounds. For the day of the hunt, at least, humankind could forget that it was the Beast’s prey. The Beast, however, was not killed in the hunt and would live to kill again.
