ver, pornography has become so easily accessible and viewed by so many, that it is accepted as a form of entertainment. People do not realize that as more and more people view pornography, more and more people are becoming obsessed with sex. The images they see become embedded in their minds and it is hard for them to view sex the same way anymore. Instead of sex being a private and intimate issue shared between two people who care for each other, it becomes a simple act of pleasure that can occur between two complete strangers and still be okay. Models and actors in pornography have sex with random partners on a day to day basis as it is filmed. It makes sex seem casual and cold with no inner emotion involved. These films and pictures do not display love between a man and woman, which used to be why people had sex. Instead, they display people using each other’s bodies for pleasure. That is not what it should be about.
Another way that sex is actively displayed is in advertisement. Marketers use sex to sell their products all too often. For example, one very disturbing ad on television today is Britney Spears’ commercial for her new fragrance, Curious. In this commercial it shows flashes of her and a man being intimate with each other in a hotel room. How this has anything to do with her perfume is hard to figure out. However, this racy promotion is appealing to many people in this society and would probably inspire them to go out and buy her perfume.
