y do not. Truman’s whole life is a set, a planned selection of what the perfect man should have, should experience, and should even feel. He is monitored and broadcasted around the nation by 5,000 hidden cameras around the quaint community in which he resides. Everything in Truman’s life is artificial. “What if everybody is an actor in my story?”(Jim Carrey)
The artificial viewpoints in Truman’s life begin with where he was chosen to inhabit. “The Truman Show” is supposed to be set on an island by the name of Seahaven somewhere off the coast of Florida, when in semi-reality (in Christof’s reality) the show is set on the world’s largest studio. To imagine Seahaven, just picture in all actuality the perfect town; white picket fences, friendly townspeople, everything within walking distance. The weather in this perfect scenery is blue skies, occasional clouds, and rain here in there (artificial of course). Every aspect of Seahaven is controlled by Christof; the people, dialogue, weather, basically everything but Truman’s actual reactions are Christof’s doing. Christof stated, “We accept the reality of the world we are presented and we prefer to live out our lives following the usual conventions.”(Kanten) Another important aspect of this is the fact that, Christof at all times, monitors the town through the conveniently placed control room located above Seahaven.
Is Truman’s life actual life? If one was to consider all aspects they may reach the conclusion that, no Truman’s life is not actually life. He is living a life, but his life is in

no way reality. It is false as stated before; every aspect of his life is false. In no way does that justify the fact that Truman is living a real life. During his years growing up in Seahaven, Truman is “lied to, cheated, deprived of his ability to make choices, controlled and manipulated by sinister, half-mad Shylocks.”(Vaknin) ...
