Reality Is Immorality

“Uh, Mom and Dad, would you maybe like to pick out a set of gorgeous twins for me to date? Oh yeah and we’ll do it on national television.” Even five years ago this type of television would have been unacceptable. Currently, it’s called reality. Wait, reality? Yes folks, this is America’s twisted minds at work here. A show actually exists where two parents choose twins for their son to date at the same time. Sounds more like a sexual fantasy to me. American television should not portray relationships or marriage as a game, but instead take them seriously.
Still people everywhere are seemingly addicted to the sudden flood of relationship reality 1shows that have plagued the nation over the last few years. What is so interesting about reality shows that captures our attention and glues us to the television so well? It must be the brilliant minds at FOX television network, working day and night to provide America with wholesome, quality entertainment. I doubt it. The last episode of “Joe Millionaire” brought in over seventy million viewers. Perhaps it is simply the sadistic side of human nature yearning to witness lying, deception, and deviant behavior mixed in with marriage.
The whole reality phenomenon is downplaying the real importance and ethical value of marriage. These shows steal away the true beauty and relevance of courtship. The message being conveyed is not one of which is an anyway healthy or beneficial to a society that already takes marriage as a joke. If people could understand that marriage and relationships are important, I would not be so avid about the disappearance of reality shows.
