The immediate effect of this unethical behavior is to generate a great deal of mistrust on the part of the consumers about the products being offered, with very serious consequences for the whole industry. For Costa Rica, a country that has emerged as a leader in sustainable tourism and has very successfully projected itself in this field, the above problem is of strategic importance to its future.
