The above table shows the water pollution in Bulgaria and the other countries on the Balkans as well. The numbers are a little bit older but, they still vary in this range. The growing necessity of clean water pushed the private sector and the Bulgarian government as well to take immediate action about the water pollution in the country.
Bulgaria has implemented several H2O management projects for regional water management and water conservation. The first one is called “Private project for water treatment and delivery to the Haskovo municipality and surrounding municipalities”. EcoLinks invested about $107 531 in it (Water Management in Bulgaria, 2002). The duration was seven months (October 2000 till May 2001).
