that we humans have a need to be somebody, to feel important, useful and of value to others and society. This self-actualizing behavior can mean developing and applying knowledge over time to build expertise in a given subject. Becoming an expert in a chosen career field is one of life’s greatest feelings of accomplishment. As we age and begin to satisfy the more basic needs in our lives, this need for self-actualization becomes more important. Lifelong learning is a key element in developing a sense of accomplishment, and a college education is the foundation for lifelong learning. (p.2)

To be a psychologist one must first obtain degrees in psychology including; the M.A., M.S., PhD, and Psy.D. These degrees are not easy to obtain yet the perseverance pays off in the end. Those who are dedicated will reap the reward. An adequate education is valuable in the quest to reach one’s goals. Laurent Belsie (2002) reports that on behalf of the Oregon University System; Dr. Nancy Goldschmidt, associate vice chancellor for performance and planning for the Oregon University System “We could see people with bachelor’s degrees having a harder time finding employment compared with three to five years ago.”(p.23) Education is an ongoing process, even after school one is learning through experience, society, and practice.
