Guns VS. Butter

The article Guns vs. Butter is an article that depicts a country’s choice. Which is more important, guns (military forces) or butter (Medicare, social security, the war on drugs, the environment etc.) Unfortunately, it is not really the choice of the country, but rather the countries leader(s). Right now, the US is in the middle of a war that has cost us $200 billion, yet we have not cut back on anything else. President Bush continues to give money liberally to farmers and ranchers, Medicare, prescription drug bills and other such programs. He is driving this counties economy into the ground (just for the record, I did NOT vote for him). He seems to lack the ability to decide between guns and butter, he wants the best of both worlds and as the article points out, this is not possible. You simply can not do more than you are able to do with your resources.
Because the President is unwilling to spend less on social security, the war on drugs, Medicare etc… something else will have to be given up. The likely outcome will be a higher tax on those individuals who have no say in this jerks decisions (did I mention that I did NOT vote for him).
The best solution would honestly be to stop the damn war. It is not doing anyone any good; it is an un-winnable war that is costing us money in the billions of dollars. We are already way over our heads in debt and the world hates us. But it is unlikely that while Bush is in office the war will stop, so the country is just going to have to suffer through this bad economic period. We just have to wait it out....
