ll these arguments clearly go against the ability for artificial intelligence to replicate the human mind. However, they are all based on computers of the present. There is one argument that may give an answer to the question of computers being able to replicate the human mind with regards to the future. It is quite easy to say that inventions have been created in the pursuit of convenience. Computers are the epitome of convenience. They are nearly perfect in all the tasks they were programmed to do. If artificial intelligence were to imitate the mind, it must also be capable of making just as many mistakes as humans do which is highly inconvenient. With these arguments in mind, it is highly unlikely that computers will be able to replicate the mind, or be invented to do so.
First of the many arguments is that although computers can replicate human thinking like mathematical tasks, memory retention and task management, it still cannot comprehend the underlying reasons behind performing these tasks. A computer that stores information simply stores it since you prompted it to do so, same with a computer calculating mathematical formulas and task management. Although computers can do these tasks more reliably and efficiently than humans, it has no other reason for doing so than you commanding a computer to. If it were a human, the case may be different. For example, a student who does mathematical equations may be doing it in order to get an A on their grade transcript. A computer would not be able to understand why an A is the desirable gra...
