Participating in a group discussion can also help members accept the outcome freely and willingly. Although there is generally resistance to change, a collaborative decision from all members may help members warm up to new ideas.
Interpersonal relationships can also change during a group discussion. Perceptions of people sometimes need to be clarified. Group discussion cannot only help clear up a perception of a certain person or group but can reduce any conflict that existed. Cohesion can also be created when groups connect and get together to solve an issue. This cohesion can also create loyalty within a group and this loyalty can help the group to achieve high quality and goals. Interpersonal relationships and team building is a wonderful way for a group to come to a decision and will usually result in more collaborative decisions in the future.
Improved information flow is another positive consequence of group interaction. Communication in a group can result in not only the knowledge level of the group but an increased coordination among the group members. Group decisions will help information to be correct when spread to others. Person to person decisions can be misconstrued and other people may feel betrayed because the information was incorrect when passed to them.
