People who don’t genuinely enjoy interpersonal contact on a regular basis are at a disadvantage. Many start-up businesses are in the service sector that relies heavily on personal contact. Having and maintaining a positive mental attitude is a trait shared by many entrepreneurs.

Previous career experience is important when starting up your own business. The most valuable experience is to work for someone else’s business, especially in the same field. Big business and government experience can actually be a detriment because characteristics for success in those fields are often negative to an entrepreneur. By seeing opportunities for a new product or service, then rushing to fill it can make any entrepreneur very wealthy.

Most entrepreneurs engaged in some kind of business activity when they were young. Good work ethic and entrepreneurial drive are learned early which only helps later in life.
