She takes Duddy on a picnic and Duddy sees this beautiful lake. He immediately wants to buy land on the lake and live there. The thing is he only has a few hundred dollars in the bank so he travels back to Montreal and finds various ways to make some money.

Duddy Kravitz seems very realistic in my view because he is a young boy who has a dream. He has always listened to his grandfathers saying, ”A man without land is nobody.” So Duddy decides to buy land on a lake. When Duddy was in high school he was not the brightest student, he also received the strap a lot. When Duddy finished high school he became more mature and he began to know how to act in the presence of people. He also seems realistic to me because he wants to succeed in life and by this he decides to make movies, sell pinball machines and buy land on a lake.
Duddy Kravitz lives on St. Urbain Street in the Jewish ghetto of Montreal. He is a small, narrow-chested man. He has bony red cheeks and has scratches all over his face. He has brown eyes and black hair. As Duddy ages he grows taller, and by the time he is eighteen he had a job, working as a waiter for his Uncle Benjy. During the novel Duddy sometimes becomes depresses and he drinks a lot and he would wear dirty shirts in and day out. Duddy meets a girl in Ste. Agathe named Yvette. Yvette has black hair and large black eyes. She is a very beautiful woman and Duddy sees something in her. When Duddy wants to make movies he meet...
