The only people that the doctor was willing to see was people with money to give or else he did not want to have anything to do with them. But as soon as he learned of Kino’s fortunate gain, the doctor rapidly became their friend and showed up at their doorstep to treat Coyotito. Kino knew why he came but since the doctor could eventually save Coyotito’s life Kino agreed. As soon as the doctor was ready to leave he mentioned when Kino was going to pay for the medicine he gave to Coyotito and Kino replied, “I will get it to you as soon as I sell the pearl.”
