Chapter 4:
Was a fairly religious chapter. You learn of their affiliation and such.
One day Frank wanted to go out to the Lyric Cinema but his grandmother prohibited that. You begin to see that his grandmother is a miserable person. But, it was nice to see that Frank got to enjoy himself by sneaking into the theater.
Chapter 5:
This chapter shows how dysfunctional the family really is. You begin to see that the members of this family do not really get along too well at some points and everyone always seems to be mad at someone else. The most memorable part in the chapter is when Malachy gets his father’s false teeth stuck in his mouth. I was hysterical when I heard that. The whole book was so depressing until that part so it was good to laugh. But then the story takes another turn for the worst when Frank applies to become an altar boy but is denied. It was difficult for me to swallow that part. I mean the kid has nothing the least they could have done is let him be an altar boy and maybe find an outlet to all of his feelings.
