Is America Number One?

They call America the “Land of Opportunity”. We earned this nickname because in the 19th century, our nation's borders expanded, stretching further and further west. The growth driven by an increasing flow of immigrants from all around the world which created our especially diverse nation. A nation, committed to free enterprise, self-determination, personal liberty and responsibility, had been born. There are many countries in the world and quite a few people question that why America, among all the others has proven to be number one in a lot of respects.
There are a variety of reasons why America is the best. One being, that our country is very fortunate in having ample food and money. We don’t suffer from poverty due to being an over-populated country such as India and many middle-eastern countries. America is very prosperous and we have a bountiful supply of resources. Those resources we don’t have right at our fingertips we have the ability and the money to be able to purchase them over seas. Also, we say we have poor people in this country. Generally, our poor citizens still have a small apartment in which to live and most of the time they have a color television and a microwave. Not always but sometimes. In some other countries our poorest would be considered as average income or wealthy there.
Another reason America is number one is because of our ability to obtain jobs easily and it’s relatively uncomplicated to start a business here. The paperwork still takes time and it’s not nearly as easy as starting a business in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong you can have a business up and running in a few hours. In the U.S. it can take a few weeks or so. In India it’s horrible trying to start a business. You may find yourself waiting months, even years and still they may reject your request.
